Have you joined in on the latest craze, Stand Up Paddleboarding?  Are you looking to show your skills in competition?  Well lucky you, Friends of Virgin Islands National Park is hosting the second annual SUP race on Maho Bay in November.  There will be 3 courses depending on your level of experience.

The short course is 1 mile starting on Maho Bay near the pavilion heading toward Francis Bay around the Floating Fee Station and back.  The open course is 3 miles starting in Maho Bay heading out to Whistling Cay and back.  The elite course is 5.5 miles starting on Maho Bay around Whistling Cay to Cinnamon Bay and back reversing the route.

Registration is open for the event and the costs are as follows:

  • Early registration through October 24th = $60 for adults and $30 for youth (under 18)
  • General registration October 25th – 31st = $70 for adults and $35 for youth (under 18)
  • Late registration Saturday Nov. 1st at Friends of the National Park store in Mongoose junction = $85 for adults and $40 for youth (under 18)

Register by phone at 340-779-4940 or in person at the Friends of the Park Store, Connections, or Caribbean Surf Co. on St. Thomas.

Registration includes entry fee, race jersey (rash guard), goodie bag, and lunch at awards ceremony.  Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finishers.
